Skills Development in South Africa
Lack of proper skills training is one of the main causes of unemployment in South Africa. But few can afford to go on some kind of skills development programme and most people are forced to seek an unqualified position, having never been able to access their true potential.
Skills Training Projects
One of the many ways to tackle unemployment in South Africa and her neighbouring countries is through subsidised skills development. Cans4Skills, Breadline Africa’s very own skills development programme, is a great example of one such training project.
If you want to support Cans4Skills, or some of the following skills training projects, donate to Breadline Africa today.

Cans4Skills - Breadline Africa's Very Own Community Development Project
There is a buzz of excitement in our office in Cape Town which I haven’t felt for a long time. This excitement is caused by our very latest community development project called Cans4Skills. It’s a strange name so let me explain it to you.
‘Cans’ is the name that many people in the container industry use for containers. We renovate these containers every year and try to find practical uses for these solid structures in a way that may aid community development, projects that will help people to help themselves.
Skills Development With Cans4Skills
But now we want these cans to do a job for us that is very different from what they’ve done before. We want to use these cans for skills development in informal settlements - skills that communities can earn a living from. Skills like plumbing, painting, bricklaying, cooking and other domestic tasks, such as ironing, using a washing machine, microwave etc.
Our Skills Training Project Program Needs Your Help
We are on the campaign trail to find people who want to support our Cans4Skills community development project so that we can make unemployment a thing of the past. Our belief is that, “You might be poor and you might be uneducated, but Cans4Skills will equip you with the basic skills training so that you can get out there and earn your living, hold your head up with confidence and support your family.”
Show your support for the Cans4Skills skills development programme and donate now. Get more information about this unique community development project if you contact us.
