From Depression to HIV - Counselling Projects On The Go
There are a host of different trauma counselling programmes that are aimed at disadvantaged communities. Many of them rely on the welfare of groups and individuals as the people that they cater to are unable to pay for their services.

Community Action Towards a Safer Environment (CASE)
CASE is a community based organisation based in Hanover Park in Cape Town, South Africa. CASE aims to break the cycle of crime and violence in which young people live by equipping community members to recognise and respond appropriately. They provide the following:
Providing children from vulnerable backgrounds opportunities to participate in normal activities and hobbies is crucial in creating a positive outlook and quality of life. CATCH Projects work to provide children from vulnerable backgrounds with these opportunities. |
The new life centre is a home to accommodate pregnant women in crisis. Young women are given trauma counselling and supported during their stay as well as been given skills and guidance for when they leave the centre. The home averages 26 residents a year. |
Lubancho House is an AIDS organisation situated in the West of Zimbabwe, in an area of around 300 000 people with infection rates recorded at 25%. Edmund house is a residential rehabilitation facility in Cape Town, providing help to destitute and homeless women, children and men from all walks of life. They offer accommodation, care and support. They aim to provide accommodation for people in need, rehabilitate them and enable them to integrate fully into society |
The Music Therapy Community Clinic (MTCC) was founded in 2002 to provide music therapy to children from disadvantaged communities as a means of psychological and social support.
