Today, 15 October, is Blog Action Day where bloggers around the world are talking about one thing: poverty. Being an organisation that works with many groups aiming to end poverty, we have a lot to say!
But as people around the world are talking, we want to challenge them to go one step further and act. All the discussions in the world will come to nothing if we don’t follow them up with ACTION.
So, with poverty and action in mind, we are very pleased to announce that today we are also launching the Blogger Bake Off Challenge! What is that? It’s a campaign that is asking bloggers to get involved in the conversation by doing something they would not normally do (Bake Bread), and then acting by donating to end poverty (Give Dough). And then, challenge their readers and five other bloggers to do the same.
With the money raised, we’ll be supporting grass roots community projects aimed at ending poverty and hunger in Africa. We’ll be placing container kitchens, vegetable gardens and more in poor communities, sending emergency food relief where need and helping these poor communities to help themselves. It's awesome what is going to be achieved.
So, we’ve baked some bread. You can see the loaf from Karen Hendricks in the picture. (And I’ll be putting my loaf on my other blog, littlepinchofsalt.com shortly). We’ve even given dough (that’s donating). Now it’s time to tag five bloggers.
The rules:
Get your readers and community to donate under your name, and you could name one of the community kitchens being placed!
Here goes: Breadline Africa is tagging:
Go on, Bake Bread - Give Dough.
I am so excited that this has begun!
