Louisa EdwardsYour occupation: Retired; formerly worked for Irish Aviation Authority. What is your position on the board? Member of Irish Advisory Committee How long have you been a trustee? Not strictly speaking a trustee; I joined the Irish Advisory Committee when it was set up in 2002 What country are you from? Ireland; originally from Pretoria, South Africa. Why did you join Breadline Africa? I joined the Advisory Committee because I was invited to by Mrs Greathead. I had already visited BLA in Cape Town, after receiving their appeals, and had met the people and seen some projects. I knew that BLA was doing good work on the ground, and I was happy to join in putting a face on the organisation in Ireland, to help with fund raising here. |

I am Editions manager and Assistant to the Editor for the online art journal, ArtThrob (www.artthrob.co.za). What is your position on the board? Trustee (in SA we are called Directors). I also represent BLA RSA on the Marketing committee. How long have you been a trustee? 2 years. Since the creation of BLA RSA What country are you from? South Africa Why did you join Breadline Africa? My family has been involved with the charity for some time, my Grandmother was a founding member (Mrs Greathead). I support and believe firmly in the importance of the work that the charity does in being a hand up not a hand out to community initiatives. Is there anything else you'd like to mention? I am glad to be apart of the launch of BLA RSA and look forward to building a presence for the charity in the minds of the South African public. I look forward to the development of Breadline Africa to that of a world class charity rating so that we can really reach isolated communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, bringing hope and sustainability to people's dreams of a better tomorrow. |
